Daisy's Wicked Puppies - Five Weeks

 

Today Daisy's puppies are five weeks old. They are trying to keep up with Cocoa's puppies, who are four days older. The age difference is not enough to keep them separated during puppy breaks, and they love to interact through their fences too. 

This week the puppies started on solid foods and continue working on using their potty pads. They are surprisingly confident on puppy breaks (learning from the older puppies?) and have no hesitation to go explore. I will need to fence off the dining room so we don't lose puppies to the rest of the house pretty soon!

Cocoa's World Cup Pups - Five Weeks

 

Before the weekend, Cocoa's puppies turned five weeks old. How do they continually change so much each week? These babies are eating solids like champs (still nursing too), and are excellent on potty pads. They have learned to love play time on puppy breaks and will wander and explore, wrestle (more like slap each other), and chew on toys. They are at an incredibly cute age right now.

Daisy's Wicked Puppies - Four Weeks

 

Daisy's puppies are four weeks old today. They are soft and sweet and starting to get up on all fours and explore the world. They are using potty pads, and curious about their puppy siblings next door. (Cocoa's puppies!)

They will be introduced to solid foods soon and are quickly growing into their own.

Cocoa's World Cup Pups - Four Weeks

 

Cocoa's puppies are starting to act like little puppies. They have had a few tail wags, and attempts at playing with each other, or the toys in their pen. Their wakeful moments are brief, but they are very comfortable with being held, and already giving kisses.

This week, these puppies have been gaining strength in their legs and getting onto all fours. It's a wobbly venture, but every time the practice they get stronger and closer to the wild and free pups they will be when they head home in four short weeks.

Daisy's Wicked Puppies - Three Weeks

 

Three weeks in for Daisy's Wicked puppies. Someone asked me why I called them wicked puppies. I assured her it was not because they are naughty little dogs, but their litter was named for the main characters in the musical Wicked. You can also think of it like the way New Englanders use the word "wicked", for example they might say these puppies are "wicked awesome". It's weird. But I lived in New Hampshire for a couple of years so I guess I can claim it.

Daisy's babies are doing great. Eyes and ears are open and they are enjoying their days upstairs in the middle of people life. They are officially started on potty pads, and socializing, and getting comfortable with the sights and sounds of the household. At night they return to the nursery.

Cocoa's World Cup Pups - Three Weeks

 

Well that was an eventful week for Cocoa's puppies! Open eyes and ears! And they are suddenly very responsive to my voice, or any noise that alerts them from sleep. It's pretty cute to watch them grow and change into these little furry puppies.

Daisy's Wicked Puppies - Two Weeks

 

Daisy's puppies are two weeks old today! They are all consistently gaining weight and are calm and content. Fiyero leads the way with opening his eyes today. We look forward to seeing Glinda and Elphaba open their eyes and take a peek at their world.

Puppies ears will also soon open, and with these two new senses, they'll begin exploring their new world. And when we get to that point, it is time for potty pads and socialization!
