Empty Nests

 

We are feeling a little empty and missing our most recent puppies who have all left the nest and have started new adventures with their forever families. We are pretty lucky to have cute pups around to snuggle a lot of the time, but we are entering a gap without puppies and it feels weird! We hope to get some home improvement projects done in the meantime. 

We do not have any current breedings, but anticipate Peach and Ajax puppies in late fall.

Daisy's Wicked Puppies - Seven Weeks

The past week has been a little wild! We had a big storm on Tuesday last week that wiped out power for us and the surrounding areas for many miles. The region is still recovering, but we are so happy to have our power restored after going without for about five days. We sure have become creatures of comfort that rely on so many modern conveniences, like electricity and running water! 

Before the storm blew in, I was able to take some pictures of Daisy's puppies at 7 weeks. A little late to post them, as they will be 8 weeks tomorrow, but better late than never after making the effort to capture their smiles. 

The puppies are awaiting their launch dates and will all go home to new families in the next few days. We will miss their sweet little furry snuggles and playfulness but are very grateful for the wonderful families that will take these babies and give them the best lives!

Cocoa's World Cup Pups - Seven Weeks

 

Cocoa's Puppies have endured their final puppy photo shoot! They are glad for that, I am sure. They all feel like their time would be better spent exploring the backyard or running amok in the kitchen.

This week the puppies had face and feet trims (minus Mazie who only had her paws trimmed up... she is growing her luxurious hair out for a future top knot). They are doing superb on potty pad training and will complete their puppy tasks (3-day wormer, first vaccine, and vet visit) this week before heading home next weekend.

Daisy's Wicked Puppies - Six Weeks

 

Daisy's puppies are six weeks old and are active little hairballs! They eat and drink independently, use potty pads, and love to play with each other inside the house and out in the yard. They love people and are constantly giving puppy dog eyes to be held and snuggled. They often get what they want...

Cocoa's World Cup Pups - Six Weeks

 

Cocoa's puppies are six weeks and think they are basically big dogs at this point. We have had numerous puppy breaks and they do not wish to stay to any specific room. They'd be happy to explore and wander freely. Unfortunately for them, I brought in a little fence to keep them from wandering too far. I don't know if they believe me that it is for their own safety.

Puppies have also been outside to get a taste of the wild outdoors. They love it and have more room to explore. Not one puppy hesitated to leave the comfort of the basket to touch grass.

Daisy's Wicked Puppies - Five Weeks

 

Today Daisy's puppies are five weeks old. They are trying to keep up with Cocoa's puppies, who are four days older. The age difference is not enough to keep them separated during puppy breaks, and they love to interact through their fences too. 

This week the puppies started on solid foods and continue working on using their potty pads. They are surprisingly confident on puppy breaks (learning from the older puppies?) and have no hesitation to go explore. I will need to fence off the dining room so we don't lose puppies to the rest of the house pretty soon!

Cocoa's World Cup Pups - Five Weeks

 

Before the weekend, Cocoa's puppies turned five weeks old. How do they continually change so much each week? These babies are eating solids like champs (still nursing too), and are excellent on potty pads. They have learned to love play time on puppy breaks and will wander and explore, wrestle (more like slap each other), and chew on toys. They are at an incredibly cute age right now.
